Amelia Lowe

Professional Dancer

Amelia was born and raised in northern New Jersey. She began dancing at the age of five and pumped up her training when she was ten and joined the competition team at her studio. For the next eight years she traveled the country competing and learning about the art of performing on stage. At eighteen she auditioned for So You Think You Can Dance and from there her professional career as a dancer began.

Dancer Info:

Dance Styles: Contemporary, Ballet, Jazz, Musical Theater
Teaching Philosophy: I believe in focusing on strong technique, theatricality, and musicality. I want people to take away ideas for performing that they can use the next time they are on stage
Inspiration: I find inspiration for dance in professional ballet companies, classic movie musicals, and in current hip hop dancers. Even though those all sound completely different, I try to take the best elements from each and put those into my dancing. The end product is a style that's well rounded and timeless
Fun Fact: My favorite thing to do when I'm not dancing is to cook up delicious meals and to bake goodies. I love eating almost as much as I love dancing
Current / Upcoming Projects: This year I will be the Guest Artist for ELSCO Dance which is a contemporary company based in New York and founded by Ellenore Scott. I've been a company member for the past two years so I'm excited to see how being a guest artist differs
Dream Dance Job: Getting to perform in Sleep No More in New York City. It's an immersive theater experience that takes place at the McKittrick Hotel. Patrons are free to roam wherever they please as the dancers perform a 1930s version of Macbeth throughout the hotel. It sounds crazy and that's exactly why it's my dream job
Favorite Part About Teaching For Excel: Being artistically pushed by my fellow teachers. Everyone brings something unique to the table that I try to learn from. Then I take what I learn and teach it to the students. It's a wonderful sharing of knowledge for the sake of dance that I haven't experienced anywhere else
College and / or Professional Training: Academy of Visual and Performing Arts at Morris County School of Technology • New Jersey Dance Theater Ensemble • Dance Academy of North Jersey • Giselle Ballet Academy • Jacob's Pillow Contemporary Program • Complexions Winter and Summer Intensive

Dance Convention Teachers

All faculty teachers are scheduled to attend all locations, and to teach in all three levels. While all our teachers plan to be at each and every location, occasionally other professional obligations arise and a faculty member or two cannot attend. Excel works with many unbelievable teachers and will replace anyone absent with an equally qualified teacher. Our confirmed faculty for each city will be posted (with the schedule) one week in advance.
